Saint Michael’s Downs Franklin Pierce, 16-3

Zaremba leads Purple Knights with a game-high seven points

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 6, 2006) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 16-3 loss to Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon at Duffy Field. The Purple Knights outscored the Ravens 15-0 over the first three periods of play to earn their sixth victory of the season.

Saint Michael's was led by freshman Bryan Zaremba (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) who totaled a game-high seven points, on five goals and two assists. Sophomore Mark Agostinelli (Dedham, Mass./Xaverian), classmate Gregory Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) and freshman Jake Previte (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) were also solid for the Purple Knights as each player totaled two goals on the day.

Franklin Pierce freshman Ryan Boller (New Cannan, Conn./New Cannan) led the Ravens offensively, scoring two goals in the game. Freshman Kyle Kruse (Bourne, Mass./Bourne) chipped in with his fifth goal of the season.

Franklin Pierce was out-shot 39-17. Saint Michael's sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) recorded three saves in two periods of play to pick up the victory, while freshman Brendan Clark (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) picked up seven saves for the Purple Knights. Franklin Pierce goaltenders sophomore Freeman Scott (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) and senior Ben Lek (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) recorded three saves and six saves respectively for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce (0-6, 0-5 NE-10) will be in action again on Sunday as it hosts Bryant University at 1 p.m. Saint Michael's College (6-3, 5-1 NE-10) will travel to Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
