Pezanowski Named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach

RINDGE, N.H. (August 4, 2006) - Franklin Pierce has named Kevin Pezanowski head men's lacrosse coach at the College. The announcement was made today by Bruce Kirsh, Vice President and Director of Athletics at Franklin Pierce, and confirmed by President Dr. George J. Hagerty.

"I am pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin Pezanowski as our new men's lacrosse coach," said Kirsh. "As we continue to improve the quality of our lacrosse program, I am convinced that Kevin will provide us with sound leadership and a new direction. Everyone associated with our lacrosse program is excited about the future of Franklin Pierce lacrosse."

Pezanowski takes over the men's lacrosse program after Jay McCormack resigned the post to take over as compliance coordinator while continuing his efforts as head ice hockey coach at the College.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity at Franklin Pierce," said Pezanowski. "I am looking forward to coming in and start recruiting the school and the men's lacrosse program. I am optimistic that the program can continue to move forward in the Northeast-10 Conference and have a lot of success in the spring."

While Pezanowski comes to Franklin Pierce after serving in several coaching capacities at The Groton (Mass.) School since September 2002, he most notably was head lacrosse coach at Curry College for five years before that. Pezanowski led the Colonels to a 26-55 (.321) mark from 1997 through 2002. Curry made appearances in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament three of his five years at the helm and he led Curry to a school-record 9-8 mark his last year.

Prior to Curry, Pezanowski was an assistant coach at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for three years, where he was in charge of offensive and defensive game strategy and team scouting, and was a full-time assistant coach at The Ohio State University from August 1991 through January 1994. He served as the Buckeyes defensive coordinator and was also responsible for high school recruiting. Pezanowski earned his Master's Degree in physical education and recreation at Ohio State in 1994.

Pezanowski earned his Bachelor's Degree in physical education from Springfield College in 1989. He has served as a physical education instructor at Methuen High School in Massachusetts for 12 years.

Pezanowski will assume his duties at Franklin Pierce on August 14.
