Bentley Tops Franklin Pierce, 15-6

Ferreira nets hat-trick in Ravens loss

WALTHAM, MASS. (March 30, 2006) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse suffered a tough 15-6 setback to Bentley College in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening at Bentley College. Falcon sophomore Dan Scavone (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) led all scorers with a game high five points, on four goals and one assist. Franklin Pierce sophomore Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) followed as he registered a hat-trick for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce trailed 6-3 heading into half-time, but Bentley exploded for nine goals in the second half to record its first win of the season. The Falcons received solid offensive production from senior Jeff Smrecek (W. Springfield, Mass./W. Springfield) and freshman Andy Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford). Smrecek netted two goals and added a helper while Curtis chipped in with two goals.   

Franklin Pierce was led offensively by Ferreira who recorded his first hat-trick of the season to lead the Ravens to a season high six goals. Freshmen Conor McCullough (Dover, N.H.), Ryan Boller (New Cannan, Conn./New Cannan), and  Jason Flanigan (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) each netted their first goals of the season to aid the Raven attack.

Franklin Pierce was out-shot 63-16. Bentley goalkeeper Chris White (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) picked up his first win of the season as Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Freeman Scott (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) made a season high 18 saves despite the loss.

Franklin Pierce (0-3, 0-2 NE-10) will host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday at 1 p.m. Bentley College (1-3, 1-2 NE-10) will also be in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as it travels to Adelphi University.
