Saint Michael's Pounces on Franklin Pierce, 20-3

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 10, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered a 20-3 loss to Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action at Doc Jacobs Field this afternoon.

Saint Michael's senior, Bryan Barletto led the Purple Knights with four goals and two assists for six points. Freshman Brandon Kobelt followed with a pair of goals and three assists, while senior Sean Dacey and sophomore Ryan Lynn each totaled three goals in the win.

Franklin Pierce senior Andrew McEntee (Manhassett, N.Y./Manhassett) recorded a goal and an assist, while sophomore Nick Mincola (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Drummer Academy) and junior Derek Mandatori (Newton, Mass./Newton North) each netted markers for the Ravens.

The Purple Knights opened up the attack just 65 seconds after face off as Dacey netted an unassisted tally to take the early lead. Lynn posted his first marker of the game nine seconds later to put the Knights up by two. Saint Michael's would go on to score two more goals in the next four minutes of play to take the lead for good. The Knights wouldn't let up into the second quarter, as they registered five unanswered goals to take the 13-1 advantage heading into the break.

Saint Michael's goalkeeper Brendan Greeley recorded 12 saves in 60 minutes of play to earn the win, while Franklin Pierce goaltender Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) made 22 stops for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce (0-2, 0-2 NE-10) returns to action on Sunday when it travels to No. 4-ranked Bryant College for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 1 p.m. Saint Michael's (4-3, 2-3 NE-10) next hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday in a Conference game at 1:30 p.m.
