Bryant Hands Franklin Pierce 23-4 Loss

Yuengling tallies four goals and two assists to lead Bulldogs

RINDGE, N.H. (April 13, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered its eighth straight loss as it was defeated by Bryant College, 23-4, in Northeast-10 Conference action at Winchendon School in Winchendon, Mass. this afternoon.

Sophomore Jon Yuengling led the Bulldogs offense with four goals and two assists, while classmate Jeff Raggi recorded four goals in the win. Junior Ryan Knope added three goals and three assists, while classmate Kevin Barletta dished three helpers to help the cause. Freshman Stephen D'Ambrosio tallied a hat trick for the Bulldogs.

The Ravens took the early one goal lead just 30 seconds into the game, as sophomore Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) netted his 11th marker of the season.

Bryant went on a charge, however, as Yuengling scored three straight markers in three minutes to help the Bulldogs take the lead for good. The Bulldogs continued to dominate in the first quarter, scoring eight consecutive goals to take the 8-1 advantage.

The Ravens attempted to close the gap as sophomore Dean Patty (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) registered his first career goal at the 14:25 mark of the second quarter, but the Bulldogs tacked on seven more goals to take a 15-2 lead by the intermission.

Bryant goalkeeper, Greg Horowitz made three stops in net for the win, while Franklin Pierce's Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) made 13 saves in 54:00 minutes of work.

Franklin Pierce (0-8, 0-6 NE-10) returns to action on Monday when it hosts Daniel Webster College in a non-conference matchup at 3:30 at the Winchendon School. Bryant (6-5, 5-2 NE-10) next hosts Southern New Hampshire University in Smithfield, R.I. at 4 p.m.
