Bio

Michael Looney wrapped up his second season as Assistant Coach for the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team in 2013-14. He assists Head Coach Jaymie Harrington with all aspects of the program including recruiting, fundraising, scouting, training, game day operations, and primarily works with the Ravens defensemen.

A four-year letterwinner in ice hockey at fellow Northeast-10 member Assumption (bio), Looney appeared in 95 career games and tallied one goal and 16 assists for 17 points, while mixing in 226 penalty pinutes. His influence on the campus for the Greyhounds was not limited to his play on the ice, as he was a Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection in 2011, and was named to the ECAC Northeast All-Academic Team in 2008-09. Looney represented Assumption's ice hockey team on the Athletic Department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during each of his four years as an undergrad.

Looney Prior to his time at Assumption, Looney played the 2007-2008 season with the Valley Jr. Warriors of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and the Empire Junior Hockey League. He played his high school hockey at St. John's High School (Mass.) from 2003-07, where he served as alternate captain for the Pioneers.

Originally from Shrewsbury, Mass., Looney graduated from Assumption in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in English and is pursuing his master's in business administration at Franklin Pierce.
