Hooksett, N.H. (2/2/2024)-- Men's Ice Hockey were down 3 early against rivals Southern New Hampshire, and after netting two goals in the end of the first and one lone goal in the second period, the comeback ultimately fell short as the Ravens fall to the Peman 3-2 to open the weekend series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Penman got on the board early on a wrist shot from Kurt Watson from the slot just under three minutes into the opening period making it a 1-0 Penman lead.

  • Then a little over four minutes later, after winning the faceoff, Derek Flynn got a open one-timer from the blue line and beat it past Raven goaltender Max Banoun (Alpine, N.J.) making it 2-0.

  • The Penman would strike three minutes later after a confusing sequence where the Ravens thought they drew a penalty but as Banoun was skating to the bench for the extra skater, Kurt Watson from his own end sent the puck into the empty net and after a review from the officials called it a good goal making it 3-0.

  • The Ravens would respond in the first period just around the 5-minute mark left when on the power play Declan House (Roselle Park, N.J.) got the puck by the right faceoff circle and wristed it into the net getting the Ravens on the board 3-1.

  • Scoring would be on pause until just under 2 minutes left in the second period where yet again on the power play as the Penman tried to clear their zone, the puck found Delcan House in the same spot and got the same result from the first period picking up his second goal of the game making it 3-2 but that would be the final result.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Max Banoun made 26 saves on 29 shots. Colin Burke made 21 saves on 23 shots.

  • Franklin Pierce was outshot by the Penman 23 to 29

  • The Ravens were 2 for 6 on the power play while the Penman were 1 for 3.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS:

  • The Ravens will look to split the series Saturday vs the Penman with puck drop at 4:10 pm.
