Worcester, MA (1/27/24) - After suffering a heartbreaking loss to Assumption on Friday, the Ravens fell to the Greyhounds 5-2 on Saturday as 3 third-period goals sealed the sweep for Assumption.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Both teams started out on fire, both posting 18 shots on goal in the first period alone. 

  • The Greyhounds struck first with a goal from junior defenseman Sean Corliss halfway through the period. The Ravens would respond with under three minutes left in the first period courtesy of a short-handed goal by senior forward Trevor Lawler (East Bridgewater, MA).  

  • The second period mirrored the first twenty minutes as both teams scored another goal. The Greyhounds took a 2-1 lead with a goal by senior forward Dara Conneely. The Ravens would respond on the power play with sophomore forward Tyson Springer (East Palestine, OH) scoring a goal off a feed from freshman defenseman Todd Branish (Littleton, CO).  

  • The Greyhounds then broke away from the Ravens with 3 goals in the third period, sealing the win with an empty net goal from senior forward William Roberts. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Greyhounds' senior goaltender Thomas McLarnon stopped 47 of 49 shots while Ravens' freshman goaltender Maxymilian Banoun (Alpine, NJ) saved 37 of 41 shots.  

  • The Ravens went 1 for 6 on the Power Play while the Greyhounds went 0 for 6 on the man advantage.  

  • The Ravens outshot the Greyhounds 49 to 42. 

  • The Greyhounds won 37 faceoffs compared to the Ravens' 32. 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: 

The Ravens now prepare for a two-game road series against intra-state rivals, the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. Both teams are currently tied for second place in the NE10 with 21 points. Game 1 will be on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at The Ice Den Arena in Hookset, NH. Puck Drop will be at 7:40 pm.
