Northeast-10 Conference Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Release (PDF)

RINDGE, N.H. (November 28, 2018) – Junior forward Alex Lester (Methuen, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has been selected as Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending on Nov. 25, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office. In addition, freshman forward Anthony Nikolopoulos (Burlington, Mass.) collected NE10 Rookie of the Week honors.

Lester tallied four points on two goals and two assists in a 2-1-0 week for the Ravens. He had one game-winning goal, went +2 and recorded six shots on goal in the week. Lester scored the game-winning goal in the second period of a 3-2 win over Framingham State at home on Tuesday night. Later, he notched a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Stonehill on Saturday afternoon and dished out an assist against Fitchburg State in a 9-1 loss on Sunday.

On the season, Lester has played in all nine games and leads the team in scoring, with nine points on two goals and seven assists. It is his first selection as NE10 Player of the Week, though he was previously selected as NE10 Rookie of the Week as a freshman in 2016-17.

For his part, Nikolopoulos scored twice, including a game-winning goal, on the week, during which he finished even, with seven shots on goal. He scored in Tuesday night’s 3-2 win at home over Framingham State and later netted the game-winning goal in the first period of a 3-1 win over Stonehill on Saturday.

On the season, Nikolopoulos has also played in all nine games and is tied for second on the team in scoring, with seven points on a team-high five goals and two assists.

The Ravens return to the ice on Saturday, Dec. 1, when they travel to Southern New Hampshire for an NE10 contest. Opening faceoff is set for 6:40 p.m. at the Ice Den in Manchester, New Hampshire.
