Men’s Ice Hockey’s Williams Signs ATO with Knoxville Ice Bears

RINDGE, N.H. (March 1, 2019) – Senior defenseman and captain Jack Williams (Suffield, Conn.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Southern Professional Hockey League, as announced on Wednesday by the SPHL.

The SPHL’s amateur tryout contracts cover three games, which means Williams will be an Ice Bear for at least the next week. Knoxville’s next three games are all against the Peoria Rivermen, beginning with a two-game weekend set in Peoria, Ill., on Friday and Saturday, March 1-2. The Ice Bears then return home to host the Rivermen on Friday, March 8, at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum, in Knoxville, Tenn.

After his initial three games under the amateur tryout contract, the Ice Bears will make a decision to sign Williams to a full contract or release him.

Williams wrapped up his career with the Ravens this winter by playing in all 26 games on the blue line. He tallied nine assists on the season and recorded 35 shots on goal. For his career, Williams played in 94 games and tallied 32 points, on eight goals and 24 assists.
