Glynn finds net for Ravens

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (December 1, 2015) – A pair of first-period goals stood as the difference on Tuesday night, as the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road at Saint Michael's in Northeast-10 Conference play. Freshman forward Sam D'Antuono scored twice to lead the way for the Purple Knights at Cairns Arena.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-8-0 (0-3-0 Northeast-10), while Saint Michael's improves to 2-7-0 (1-2-0 Northeast-10).

D'Antuono needed just 3:48 to get the scoring started on Tuesday night, as he gave the Purple Knights a quick lead they would never relinquish. Junior forward Anthony Maiuri and junior defenseman Danny Divis picked up the assists on D'Antuono's third goal of the season.

Sophomore forward Ian Speliotis followed with the eventual game-winning goal less than eight minutes later. He put home his second of the campaign at the 11:32 mark, off of assists from Divis and freshman forward Colin Biebel.

After the intermission, Franklin Pierce cut the gap to 2-1 early in the second stanza. Senior forward Brendan Glynn (Quincy, Mass.) put home his second of the season, an unassisted tally, at the 2:13 mark.

Saint Michael's reclaimed the two-goal margin, at 3-1, just after the midway point of the frame. D'Antuono's second of the night came at the 10:32 mark, off of assists from freshman defenseman Jack Ouellette and senior forward Kevin Altidor. The goal wound up capping the scoring, as the game's final 29:28 produced no further goals.

Senior goaltender Kyle Moran (Marshfield, Mass.) started in net for Franklin Pierce and was hit with the loss (1-3-0) after allowing two goals on eight shots over the opening 11:32. After the Speliotis goal, Moran was lifted in favor of sophomore Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.), who made 20 saves against 21 shots the rest of the way. Freshman Chris Johnson (2-3-0) finished with 22 saves against 23 shots on goal at the other end of the ice to pick up the win for Saint Michael's.

The Ravens return to the ice on Saturday, Dec. 5, when they travel to Fitchburg State for a non-conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. at Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, Mass.
