Men's Golf Places Ninth At FPU Fall Invite

Rindge, N.H. (September 12, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce men's golf team wrapped up competition at the Franklin Pierce Invitational that took place at the Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, N.H. Sunday and Monday.

After having tee times on Sunday, Monday was a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. and golfers headed to the clubhouse around 1:00 p.m. The men's squad was divided into two teams, a five man "A" squad and a five man "B" squad. The "A" team finished in ninth place with a 614, 38 over par and the "B" team placed 11th (618, +42). St. Thomas Aquinas won the invite with a 552 total score and finished 24 under par. Fellow Northeast-10 school Southern New Hampshire placed second (574, -2) and non-conference opponent Dominican rounded out the top-three at (581, +5).

Freshman Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) led all Ravens golfers at 150 (+6) which was good enough for a tie of 25th place.

Day One – Sunday

Team captain Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) headed into the clubhouse on Sunday after shooting a 73 (+1) which led the team. Donahue finished behind his teammate with a 75 (+3) score. Newcomer Keeton Foster (Chesterfield, N.H.), in his collegiate debut shot a 76 (+4) along with Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.). Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) added a 77 (+5) while freshman Anthony Vincequere (Millbury, Mass.) shot 78 (+6). Josh Holt (Southampton, Mass.) and Kyle Libiszewski (Holland, Mass.) wrapped up the scores in the 70s with a 79 (+7) showing.

The "A" team finished the first day in seventh place at 302 and the "B" squad stood at 10th with a 311 mark.

Day Two – Monday

On Monday, Christopher Pasto (Newton, N.H.) was the Ravens leader with a 73 (+1) mark, bettering his score from the previous day. Following Pasto was Simpson who shot a 74 (+2). Liam Donahue and Sam Myers played consistent as they both matched their day one scores of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4). Kyle Lebiszewski bettered his game by two strokes, finishing the day at 77 (+5).

The "B" squad improved their score in the final day of competition knocking off four points from 311 to 307.
