Strong first round puts Men’s Golf in fourth at NEIGA Championship
BREWSTER, Mass. (October 25, 2015) – Senior Travis Landry (Loudon, N.H.) shot a first-round 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for eighth, the highest finish of any Franklin Pierce golfer, as the Ravens were able to post up a fourth place finish after day one of the NEIGA Championship hosted at The Captain's Course in Brewster, Mass.
Landry set the tone for Franklin Pierce's success, sitting only three strokes from second place. Sitting in a tie for 11th just one stroke behind is sophomore Charles Pennington (Heswall, England), who shot a 78 (+6) on the day. Franklin Pierce then received two scores of 80 (+8) from both senior Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) and sophomore Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.), as each ofht em sit in a tie for 22nd. The final Raven in the field was sophomore Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.), who sits in a tie for 29th after shooting an 82 (+10).
Leading the pack with the only score under par was Tye Morrison from Adelphi, shooting a 71 (-1), followed by Max Bock from AIC who sits as the stand-alone player in second place with a 74 (+2). On the team leaderboard is Southern New Hampshire with an overall 306, while Bentley sits in second with 309. Assumption sits in third with a 312 just in front of the Ravens who posted a 315.
The Ravens return to the links tomorrow, October 26 when they play day two of the NEIGA Championship.
