Men’s Golf sits third after first day at FPU Fall Invitational

KEENE, N.H. (October 18, 2015) – Sophomore Will Pennington (Heswall, England) shot a team-leading 73 (+1) in a challenging round due to weather conditions, putting himself in a tie for second overall and aiding the Franklin Pierce University Men's Golf team to a third place finish after the first day of the FPU Fall Invitational held at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, N.H.

The Ravens showed plenty of strong finishes behind Pennington, including senior Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) who shot a 77 (+5) to put him in a tie for 12th. Finishing one shot behind Adjutant with a 78 (+6) was sophomore Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.), officially finishing in a tie for 14th. Rounding out action for the Franklin Pierce "A" squad on the day was sophomore Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior Travis Landry (Loudon, N.H.). Arisco shot an 81 (+9) while Landry shot an 82 (+10) to put them in the jumble of people in the middle of the leaderboard.

Other notable Raven performances on the day came from senior Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) and junior Kyle Libiszewski (Holland, Mass.) who each shot a 78 (+6) as individual players to also sit tied with Simpson in 14th.

Josh Lacasse of Southern New Hampshire leads on the individual leaderboard, as he was the only one under par for the day at 71 (-1), two strokes ahead of second where Pennington, and both Cal Meyers and Doug Kulikowski  of Bentley sit at 73 (+1).

On the team leaderboard, the second round is setting up to be a shootout, with Bentley holding a slight one stroke lead over Southern New Hampshire, as the teams shot 299 and 300, respectively. Franklin Pierce sits 10 strokes off the top score at 309, with both Nyack and Assumption not too far behind at 314 and 315.

The Ravens return to the links at Bretwood again tomorrow, October 19, with a start time of approximately 11 a.m. pending weather.
