Men’s Golf Finishes With Strong Third Place Showing at Second Day of Plante Invitational

CHARLTON, Mass. (September 8, 2014) – Junior Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) shot a team-best 72 on the final day of the Joe Plante Invitational to help lead the Franklin Pierce University Ravens men's golf team to a two-day total of 610, earning them a third place finish.

Adjutant came out of the gates strong, carding a 75 on the first day, putting him in a fourth place tie. After, it was teammate Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) who came into day two with the individual lead over the field, Adjutant finished even stronger on Monday to give him a two-day total of 147 (+5) for an individual third place finish.

Auclair had a tougher time on Monday, as he shot an 85, giving him a 157 (+15) for the tournament, finishing tied for 11th. Freshman Hunter Byram (Coventry, Conn.) showed brilliance in his first collegiate tournament, shooting a 77 on Monday, giving him a 153 (+11) for the tournament.

Rounding out the Ravens' competitors was freshman John Abbott (Higganum, Conn.) and junior Sean Sheppard (Griswold, Conn.), who each had solid days for the Ravens. Each of them shot in the 70s on Monday, with Abbott shooting a 76 in his first collegiate action, while Sheppard shot a 79. Each score was much better than their previous scores from the first day of the event.

American International College took the team victory by shooting a 600, which Bentley also shot over the two days. However, American International won the tiebreaker, which was a better score from the fifth roster spot. Taking the individual championship was Bentley's Malcolm Oliver, who shot a two day total 145 (+3) followed by his teammate Jon Stoddard who followed only one stroke back with a 146 (+4).
