Men's Golf Posts Outstanding Round of 297 in Final Round of Northeast Challenge to Finish 3rd

Stew Wise fires two-over-par 72 to finish tied for 7th

RESULTS

NEW LONDON, N.H. (September 15, 2013) – Four Ravens carded rounds in the 70s on Sunday during the final round of the Northeast Challenge, as the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team posted the lowest team score of the afternoon with a 17-over-par, 297, to finish third out of eight teams in the tournament at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, N.H.

The Ravens posted a two-round score of 610 (+50), and jumped up three spots in the team standings from the first round to the final round. Bentley won the team title with a two-round score of 597 (+37), while host-school Southern New Hampshire finished in second, two strokes back of the Falcons (599, +39).

Junior Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.) and senior Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.) put together impressive final rounds to finish among the top-15 in the individual standings. Wise fired a two-over, 72, on Sunday to finish tied for seventh with a two-round score of 149 (+9). Spencer was just a stroke off of Wise’s low round honors, as he carded a 73 (+3) to tie for 14th with a 36-hole total of 151 (+11).

Wise and Spencer both carded rounds in the 70s during both days of competition, as did sophomore Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.), who shot a 77 (+7) during the final 18 holes to post a two-day score of 152 (+12) to tie for 16th place.

Classmate Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) was the fourth Raven to shoot in the 70s on Sunday, as he turned in a strong five-over-par, 75, to finish the tournament in a tie for 29th place with a final total of 158 (+18).

Sophomore Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.) was the fifth Raven to compete on the afternoon, and shot a lower score on Sunday as compared to Saturday, as he carded an 88 (+18), to finish 42nd with a score of 178 (+38).
