Franklin Pierce Finishes 10th at NE-10 Championship
Dunn places 16th overall
with two-day score of 157 after carding 76 on Monday
TYNGSBORO, Mass. (October 1, 2007) – The Franklin
Pierce University golf team placed tenth at the Northeast-10
Conference Championship, hosted by the University of Massachusetts
Lowell, on the 6,740-yard par 72 layout at Vesper Country Club.
Franklin Pierce posted a team score of 649 at the two-day event in
which four of its five golfers were forced to complete their
opening round this morning after darkness halted play on Sunday.
The Ravens improved their 331 team score on Sunday/Monday to a 318
in the second round. Bentley College captured the team championship
with a 616 (311-305) team score, led by individual medalist Scott
Leopold with a two-day score of two-over-par 146 (73-73).
Junior captain Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson,
N.Y./Comsewogue) led Franklin Pierce with a two-day total
of 157, including a low round of 76 for the Ravens this afternoon,
to finish tied for 16th overall – just three strokes off the
pace for All-Conference honors. Senior captain Craig
Jasinski (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) posted a 161
(83-78) for 28th overall, while sophomore Peter Panopoulos
(Rindge, N.H./Conant) registered a 163 (83-80) and placed
33rd.
Franklin Pierce is off until Thursday, October 11, when it
competes at the Saint Anselm Invitational at Candia Wood Country
Club.
