Men's Basketball: Ravens Fall to Adelphi Panthers, 84-72

RINDGE, N.H (2/13/2024) – The Franklin Pierce University Ravens dropped another loss Tuesday evening to the Adelphi Panthers 84-72. For Adelphi, the win helped the team hold onto a tie for second place in the Northeast-10 standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens and Panthers went eye-for-eye through the first ten minutes of the game, each tallying 25 points. From there, Adelphi took control with a 29-10 run to close out the first half with a 54-35 lead.
  • In the second half, the Ravens outscored the Panthers 37-30. Despite Franklin Pierce having a better half, there was a point where Adelphi led by as many as 22 points.
  • Leading all scorers Tuesday night was Adelphi sophomore guard Elijah Lewis. He had 23 points and shot 7 for 13 from the field. He was 3 for 4 from behind the arc and 6 for 7 from the free throw line.
  • Franklin Pierce had three players finish the night in double figures. Sophomore guard RJ Delahaye (Newburgh, NY) had 13 points and shot 5 for 9 from the field. Junior transfer forward Ja'Keese Kemp (Lakeland, FL) had 14 points and shot 6 for 15 from the field. Sophomore forward Ugo Nwachukwu (Imo State, Nigeria) played 21 minutes off the bench. He had 20 points and shot 9 for 14 from the field. He has scored 20 or more points for the fourth time this season.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Franklin Pierce shot 42% from the field (25 for 60). Adelphi shot 52% from the field (29 for 56)
  • Franklin Pierce shot 32% from behind the arc (7 for 22). Adelphi shot 39% from behind the arc (10 for 26).
  • Franklin Pierce shot 75% from the free throw line (15 for 20). Adelphi shot 76% from the free-throw line (16 for 21).
  • Franklin Pierce had 32 points in the paint and 28 bench points.
  • Adelphi had 37 rebounds compared to Franklin Pierce's 23.
  • Adelphi's largest lead of the night was 22.
