Men's Basketball: Ravens Stung by the Yellow Jackets in 83-64 Loss

SPRINGFIELD, M.A (2/3/2024) – The Franklin Pierce men's basketball team lost their fifth straight game Saturday afternoon at the Henry A. Butova Gymnasium as AIC picked up the 83-64 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  
• In the first half, both teams traded baskets and AIC hung on to a 30-26 lead at halftime.
• The Yellow Jackets took over in the second half and went on an 18-6 run to lead 73-57 over Franklin Pierce with four minutes remaining in the game. AIC's shooting stung the Ravens after the Yellow Jackets went 64% from the field and hit eight threes in the second half. 
• Three Franklin Pierce players scored in double figures. Junior forward Sean Trumper (Ashford, United Kingdom) had 14 points and shot 3 for 11 from the field. He was 8 for 8 from the free-throw line and had five assists. Sophomore guard RJ Delahaye (Newburgh, NY) had 10 points and shot 4 for 8 from the field. Sophomore guard Thomas Prendergast (Bayport, NY) played 25 minutes off the bench and had 12 points. He shot 5 for 6 from the field and was 2 for 2 from the charity stripe. 
• Sophomore forward Ugo Nwachukwu (Imo State, Nigeria) grabbed nine rebounds. 
• AIC guard Justice Ellison led all scorers with 25 points. He shot 10 for 19 from the field and 5 for 9 from behind the arc. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:  
• Franklin Pierce shot 40% from the field (22 for 55). AIC shot 52% from the field (32 for 62) 
• Franklin Pierce shot 29% from behind the arc (5 for 17). AIC shot 41% from behind the arc (12 for 29). 
• Franklin Pierce shot 83% from the free throw line (15 for 18). AIC shot 100% from the free-throw line (7 for 7). 
• Franklin Pierce had 32 points in the paint and 21 bench points.
