Men’s Basketball: Ravens Falter in Second Half to Saint Rose 104-82

RINDGE, N.H. (1/30/2024) – The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team fell to the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights Tuesday evening in a 104-82 final.

Score: Saint Rose 104, Franklin Pierce 82

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Both teams traded buckets in the first half. The Ravens started out hot from 3-point range, with Sophomore guard RJ Delahaye (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Junior guard Dwayne Robinson O'Hagen (Woonsocket, R.I.) drilling their first two 3's to take a 6-5 lead. Delahaye gave the Ravens a 4-point lead later in the first half with a layup to put them ahead 19-15. Christian-Pierre Louis responded with a layup of his own to cut the deficit in half at 19-17. Freshman guard Trevon Thomas (Chicago, Ill.) then buried a triple to put the Ravens up by 5, 22-17. The Ravens stretched their lead to 7 with a layup from Junior forward Sean Trumper (Ashford, UK) to make it 25-18, then Thomas drilled another 3 to give them a 28-20 lead, the 8-point lead was their largest of the half. After the Ravens hot offensive start, the Golden Knights went on a massive 17-0 run to take a 37-28 lead. Sophomore guard Andrew Politi (Salem, NH) made a huge impact when he came off the bench, after he chipped in 9 points late in the half. As the clock ticked down, the Ravens defense couldn't contain the Golden Knights, who used the double bonus to their advantage to take a 54-49 lead into halftime.  
  • In the second half, the Golden Knights continued their offensive domination, outscoring the Ravens 50-33 leading to a 104-82 victory. Christian Pierre-Louis and Trey Boyd II each scored 12 second-half points.  
  • Four Ravens finished the night in double figures. Andrew Politi led the way with 16 points off the bench. Trevon Thomas also scored in double figures off the bench with 12 points, going an impressive 4-5 from 3-point range. Dwayne Robinson O'Hagen finished with 15 points and a team-high 6 assists. Sean Trumper chipped in with 12 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.  

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Franklin Pierce shot 40.3% from the field (27 for 67). Saint Rose shot 52.9% from the field (37 for 70).  
  • Franklin Pierce shot 34.5% from behind the arc (10 for 29). Saint Rose shot 33.3% from behind the arc (4 for 12).  
  • Franklin Pierce shot 69.2% from the free-throw line (18 for 26). Saint Rose shot 78.8% from the free-throw line (26 for 33).  
  • Franklin Pierce had 29 total rebounds, compared to Saint Rose's 45
