Men's Basketball: Ravens Cross Midway Point of the Season with 103-76 Loss to Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (1/10/2024) – The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball program crossed the midway point of the season Wednesday evening with a hard 103-76 loss to the Adelphi University Panthers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Raven offense struggled in the first half after senior forward Sean Trumper (Ashford, UK) was the only FPU player to break the ten-point mark.
  • Just seven minutes into the game, the Panthers jumped ahead to a 12-point lead and kept the pressure on for the remainder of the half which closed out 52-35 Adelphi.
  • The second half played like the first as the Ravens tried to dig themselves out of the deficit but Adelphi pushed forward as the team poured on another 50+ point half and won the game with a 103-76 final score.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Adelphi's offense was a force Wednesday night after four players on the squad tallied 12 or more points including Seth Brown who grabbed a game high 22 points including six three pointers.
  • The Ravens had ample opportunity to hit baskets but couldn't finish during the matchup. The team shot 46% from the field and 31% from the 3-point arc. The team did capitalize on free throws, shooting 80%.
  • Under the net, the Panthers dominated rebounds tallying 41 compared to 27 by the Ravens.  

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Raven's next opportunity to get back in the win column will be on Saturday, January 13 when the team will travel to Bentley University to take on the Falcons at 3:30 PM.
