HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens went ahead early in the first half after the team grabbed a ten-point lead in the first eight minutes of the game.
  • Battling back and forth trading points, the Ravens held the lead by at least seven points until the tail end of the first half.
  • Chipping away, the Golden Knights brought the game within four points to close out the first half with a score of 41-37.
  • The turning point of the game came just minutes after halftime ended. As the Ravens held a solid lead in the first half, roles were switched in the second rendition after the Golden Knights first tied the game and then went on an eight-point run which put the Ravens on their heels.
  • With ten minutes left in the game, the Golden Knights held a game high 12-point lead.
  • In the four minutes that followed, the Ravens clawed back at the double-digit deficit and tied the game at 72 a-piece with six minutes left in the game.
  • The Ravens fell behind by three points again with 5:30 left on the clock but a three-pointer from Pierce Prendergast tied the score again at 75-75.
  • Moments after the tying three-pointer, the Golden Knights hit the jets and dumped in 10 unanswered points which brought the score to 75-85 as the clock winded down to under three minutes.
  • In the final minutes of the game, the Ravens were able to throw up another nine points, but it wasn't enough to catch the Golden Knights who took home the 93-84 victory.

 BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Franklin Pierce scored nearly the same number of points in both halves with 41 in the first and 43 in the second. Though the Golden Knights lagged in the first half with just 37 points, the team had an explosive second half with 56 points.
  • The largest obstacle for the Ravens was the team's second half shooting percentage. Through the first 20 minutes, FPU shot 52 % from the field which included 50% from the three-point arc. In the second half, the Ravens dropped off going 37% from the field and only hit 20% of their three-point opportunities. As for the Golden Knights, the team jumped from 45% from the field in the first half to 60% in the second. From the three-point arc, Saint Rose hit 75% of their shots, a serious change to their 27% success rate in the first half.
  • Depth appeared to be a deciding factor in Wednesday night's game as well as the Franklin Pierce bench only tallied nine points compared to St. Rose's 35 points from the non-starters.
  • Though the Ravens fell behind late in the second half, the Franklin Pierce starting five generated some solid offense:
