Men's Basketball: Starting Five Score 62 Combined Points but Fall Short to Saint Anselm 98-77

Manchester, N.H. (12/5/2023) – The Franklin Pierce men's basketball program fell to the Saint Anselm College Hawks in a high scoring 98-77 final Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Both halves of the game showed mirrored scoring from the Ravens and the Hawks. In the first half, SAC outscored FPU 50-37 which was repeated in the second half when the Hawks hung another 48 compared to the Raven's 40 points.
  • Sean Trumper (Ashford, United Kingdom) was the team leader Tuesday night after he put up 20 points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Saint Anselm's Josh Morissette was a force on the court for the Hawks, tallying a whopping 44 points including twelve three pointers.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Where one team struggled, the other excelled and that was what wrote Tuesday night's story for the Ravens. From the three-point arc, the Ravens went 5-18 (27.8%). The Hawks on the other hand poured in the three-pointers scoring 19 on 30 attempts (63.3%).
  • At the free throw line, the Ravens went 8-13 (61.5%) compared to the Hawks 19-25 (76%).
  • Where the Ravens did lead, was points in the paint which outnumbered the Hawks 46-18.
  • The Franklin Pierce starting five were the heart and soul of the team's offense which generated 62 of the team's 77 points.  

 

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS:

  • The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball program will be back in action Saturday, December 9th when the team welcomes Caldwell to Rindge for a 1:00 PM tipoff.
