Men's Basketball: Ravens Grab First Conference and Home Win of the Season Against AIC

RINDGE, N.H (12/02/2023) -- The Franklin Pierce men's basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season this afternoon at The Field House as they beat American International College 87-80.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sophomore forward Ugo Nwachukwu (Imo State, Nigeria) finished with a double-double with 12 rebounds and a career-high 37 points.
• Franklin Pierce controlled the game's tempo, but there were times when AIC went on big runs.
• Four Franklin Pierce starters were in double figures. Nwachukwu had 37 points and shot 15 for 18 from the field. Sophomore forward Pierce Prendergast (Bayport, NY) had 10 points and shot 5 for 7 from the field. Junior forward Sean Trumper (Ashford, United Kingdom) had 19 points and shot 5 for 11 from the field. Sophomore guard RJ Delahaye (Newburgh, NY) had 14 points and shot 4 for 7 from the field.
• The Ravens outshot AIC 41-35 in the first half. In the second half, Franklin Pierce and AIC kept trading baskets, but the Ravens found a way to hang on at the end of the game to beat AIC 87-80.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
• Franklin Pierce shot 55% from the field (31 for 56). AIC shot 45% from the field (28 for 62)
• Franklin Pierce shot 31% from behind the arc (4 for 13). AIC shot 46% from behind the arc (11 for 24).
• Franklin Pierce shot 78% from the free throw line (21 for 27). AIC shot 87% from the free-throw line (13 for 15).
