PLESANTVILLE, N.Y. (January 29, 2020) - Senior guard Falu Seck (Washington D.C.) eclipsed 1,000 career points for the Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team however it was Northeast-10 Conference opponent Pace University who came away with a thrilling, buzzer-beating 75-72 victory on Wednesday evening at the Goldstein Fitness Center. Tyrone Cohen Jr. banked home a heave from just inside half court at the buzzer to shock the crimson and grey who fall to 12-7 on the season, and 7-5 against conference opponents. Pace moved to 14-7 and 6-6 NE10 with the shocking win

Seck was one of a quartet of Ravens reached double-figures. He became the 36th member of the program's 1,000 point club joining teammate Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) who reached that landmark earlier this season. Seck reached 1,000 in the second half making a free throw for the milestone, he completed the game with 12 points and five rebounds and currently has 1,005 points across 100 games in his career.

Maxwell Zegarowski (South Hamilton, Mass.) scored a team-best 16 points off the bench, shooting 66.7% from the field and making four of his five attempts (80.0%) from three-point range. Fadojutimi poured in 14 points on 57.1% field goal efficiency from the field and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go with a block while Jameson Pierrelus (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was limited to 11 minutes of action due to foul trouble but still scored 10 points on 4-of-5 (80.0%) shooting.

The Setters were carried by Peyton Wejnert who paced all players with a game-best 19 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Jacobs finished just shy of a triple-double with 17 points, eight rebounds, and a game-high eight assists. Austin Gilbert manufactured 11 points and three steals.

Franklin Pierce led for nearly 28 minutes of game time while outshooting Pace 46.2% to 43.3% and connected on more three-pointers (9-to-6) against Pace. However, it was the Setters who won the battle on the boards, outrebounding FPU 38-to-27 snatching 15 offensive boards leading to 14 second-chance points against just four for Pierce.

The Ravens got on the board first on a triple by Seck on their first possession, his only points in the half. The crimson and grey steadily built a 12-9 advantage before Pace went on a 15-7 run to take their largest lead of the night at 24-19. The Setters would lead 33-29 before the Ravens went on a run with a 9-2 stretch to close the half with a 38-35 advantage.

Franklin Pierce was buoyed all night by their bench who scored 27 points on the evening, but they were particularly effective in the first half as the Ravens second unit poured in 21 points including ten from Zegarowski and nine from Sean Bresnan (Yonkers, N.Y.) to give Franklin Pierce the halftime edge.

The Ravens came out firing to open the second stanza scoring 15 of the first 18 points scored in the half to build their largest advantage of the evening at 53-38 with just over 14 minutes remaining. However, over the next five and a half minutes, the Setters clawed their way even at 58 apiece. Over the final stretch, the Ravens would never trail but would also never extend their lead beyond two possessions. A layup and1 by Wejnert with 32 seconds remaining brought the game even at 72 and sent the stage for Cohan Jr.'s heroics.

Franklin Pierce will look to get back on track when they travel to the University of New Haven for a conference clash set for 3:30 p.m.
