RINDGE, N.H. (January 22, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball senior forward Asante Sandiford (Boston, Mass.) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week Monday afternoon by the league offices. This is the first time Sandiford has netted a Player of the Week honor and the second time a Raven athlete has been selected this season.

Sandiford started and played in two games for the Ravens this past week leading the Crimson and Grey to a 2-0 record. He averaged 24.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists while shooting 63% (15-24) from the floor, 54% (7-of-13) from downtown and was a perfect 11-11 from the line. In the 89-81 victory against Southern Connecticut State University, Sandiford posted a career-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds en route to his sixth double-double of the season. On Saturday versus Adelphi University, he notched his fourth 20+ point game of the campaign with a game-best 20 points and seven rebounds in an 80-72 win.

He is having a career year during his senior campaign setting personal bests in points per game (12.8), three-point percentage (47.4%), free throw percentage (77.5) and rebounds per game (7.7). Sandiford currently ranks second in the conference in rebounds per contest and third in three-point percentage.

The Ravens (10-7, 5-7 NE10) have won seven of their last nine duels and rank fifth out of 350 teams in NCAA Division II in defensive rebounds per game (30.88). They head out on the road tomorrow for a NE10 showdown versus the University of New Haven with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
