McDevitt, Mead Named to NABC Honors Court

RINDGE, N.H. (July 31, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball players Mike McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) and Ben Mead (Ipswich, Suffolk (England)) success in the classroom has led to their inclusion on the 2016-17 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court it was announced during the third week of July.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:

1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

McDevitt, a rising senior and a Health Science major started and played in all 28 games for the Crimson and Grey during the 2016-17 campaign. The Northeast-10 Conference Honorable Mention Selection set career-highs in points per game (14.3), total points (400), free throw percentage (81.9%), rebounds per game (6.4), rebounds (178), and blocks (32) McDevitt led all starters in free throw percentage while ranking second on the team in scoring, rebounds and blocks.

Mead, who graduated this past spring with a Psychology degree appeared in a career-best 27 games for the Ravens which included one start. On the year he racked up 30 points, 26 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and two steals.
