MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 1, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball teams losing streak reached six games after a 110-81 setback to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Anselm College on Wednesday night at the Stoutenburg Gymnasium. With the win, the Hawks seventh in a row, improves their record to 13-6, 9-6 NE10 and the loss drops the Crimson and Grey to 10-11, 7-8 NE10.

Matt Banton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Ravens in scoring with 20 points as he drained 4-of-8 (50%) from beyond the arc. He also grabbed four rebounds and handed out a team-high two assists. Mike McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) tallied 14 points and seven boards. Freshman guard Oladoyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) racked up 12 points, six caroms, three steals and a block.

Reigning Spalding NE10 Player of the Week Tim Guers poured in a game-high 28 points and came down with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Guers scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half of play. Chris Braley also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Four other players scored in double figures for the Hawks who had control of the game from the get go as the Ravens never led in the contest.

Cody Ball opened the scoring with a pass fake and then converted a driving layup to get Saint Anselm on the board. Banton matched then Ball's points with two of his own off a jumper in transition. Taylor Fortin added a trey and Guers notched a fast break layup which forced the Ravens into an early timeout with the Hawks leading 7-2. The Hawks continued their 14-4 opening run after Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) airmailed a three from the corner and Fortin drained two attempts from the charity stripe.

McDevitt and Fadojutimi scored two points each as McDevitt went up and under for a reverse baseline layup and Fadojutimi poked the ball away for a lay-in off a steal. Following the freshman's theft, Saint Anselm used a 12-0 run to take a commanding 18 point, 26-8 lead. Fadojutimi stopped the bleeding by again committing a steal and going the full length of the court for two which made it 26-10.

Saint Anselm continued their onslaught as they built their lead to 43-10 on the strength of a 17-0 run that was capped off by two consecutive threes from Guers and Austin Nydegger. After a Raven timeout, Marvilio Berroa (Bronx, N.Y.) drove the lane for two and was fouled, but he missed the free throw. Jordan Lackey (South Plainfield, N.Y.) backed down his defender in the post for two to make the score 43-14.

The hosts kept adding onto their lead as Guers notched another long range attempt with 1:01 left in the stanza to give the Hawks a 67-31 halftime lead, their largest lead of the game to that point.

Saint Anselm shot 22-of-37 (59.5%) from the floor and they connected on 11-of-16 (68.8%) of their three pointers in the first half. FPU struggled shooing the rock as they were 13-of-35 (37.1%) and 1-of-13 (7.7%) from deep. The guests also handed out only one assist in the first half compared to the hosts 15 and they turned the ball over 11 times which led to 14 points for the Hawks.

McDevitt recorded four straight points to open the final half and then the Hawks used another run this time scoring 10 in a row to give them their largest lead of the contest, 77-35 after two Kyle Green free throws. The Ravens would cut the deficit to 27 points a few times over the remaining minutes, but couldn't get any closer.

The Ravens remain away from home on Saturday where they look to end their losing skid at Stonehill with tip-off set for 3:30 p.m.
