RINDGE, N.H. (September 22, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team wrapped up a three-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon, as the Ravens squared off against No. 5 nationally ranked Stonehill at Sodexo Field. Sophomores Meghan Bean and Raegan Hickey notched a goal and an assist each to lead the visiting Skyhawks to a 4-1 victory in the Northeast-10 Conference contest.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-6 (0-5 NE10), while Stonehill improves to 6-1 (4-0 NE10) and has won five in a row.

Stonehill popped the only goal of the first quarter, en route to a three-goal first half. In the fourth minute, Hickey carried the ball towards the cage along the right end line and then knocked it out front. Bean was on the scene and buried a shot just 3:12 into the proceedings to open the scoring with her second goal of the season.

A pair of goals just 80 seconds apart in the second quarter broke the game open. In the 18th minute, sophomore Claudia Crowe sent a pass in from the right side and found senior Emma Mawn, who lifted a shot home for her third goal of the campaign. In the 20th minute, senior Elisha Brinkman made a run with the ball in the midfield and then sent the ball ahead into the circle. The pass sprung senior Olivia Cameron in on a 2-on-1, but she would not need the help, as she teed up a shot and fired it inside the left post for her second goal of the year.

Stonehill made it 4-0 just 3:16 on the other side of halftime, in the 34th minute. From the top of the circle, Bean found Hickey in the middle of the scoring area. Hickey reversed her stick and slashed her team-leading fifth of the year to the back of the cage.

Franklin Pierce broke up the shutout with a 55th-minute tally off of a penalty corner. The corner came to the top of the circle for sophomore Julia Rooijakkers (Eindhoven, Netherlands), who partially fanned on her shot. The ball wound up in the middle of the circle with junior Meghan Winn (Newburyport, Mass.) who put it towards the net from there. Sophomore Silver Clukey (Winslow, Maine) was open at the left post and redirected it home for her second of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished with nine saves against 13 shots on her goal and suffered the loss (1-2), while freshman Rebecca Phillips (West Amwell, N.J.) added a defensive save along the way. For Stonehill, senior Abigail Campbell (6-1) stopped six of seven shots in the victory, while sophomore Madeleine McGee contributed a defensive save.

The Ravens are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 26, when they travel to Southern New Hampshire for an NE10 contest at 11 a.m. at Larkin Field in Manchester, N.H.
