NE10 Field Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll

RINDGE, N.H. (August 17, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has been picked to finish 12th, out of 13 teams, in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced on Wednesday by the Conference office.

The Ravens, who finished 13th and last in the league a year ago with a 3-14 (0-12 NE10) record, will look to make their way back up the NE10 standings in 2017. Six newcomers join a roster of 19 returners for the crimson and grey.

Perhaps the most important addition is actually one of the returners, as junior midfielder Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) returns to the field after missing her sophomore season due to injury. Moulton earned NE10 All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman in 2015, after notching 10 points on four goals and two assists in 18 games. Senior forward Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) returns for her final campaign in crimson and grey after leading the team in scoring each of her first three years on campus. She tallied six goals for 12 points a year ago and enters the season eight goals and 15 points behind Tia Levins '12 for those respective program records.

Five different teams earned first-place votes in the poll, with six of the league's 13 coaches selecting Saint Anselm to finish out front. The Hawks (147 points) led the way, while Stonehill (139 points), LIU Post (135 points), Merrimack (119 points) and Adelphi (116 points) rounded out the top five. Stonehill, LIU Post and Merrimack all garnered two first-place votes apiece, while Adelphi earned the remaining vote for the top spot.

The Ravens will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 2, when they travel to New Haven for a non-conference contest at 4 p.m. in West Haven, Conn.
