WALTHAM, Mass. (September 16, 2008) – Junior forward Abbie DeMusis (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) scored the game-winning goal on Tuesday night to lead Bentley to a 2-0, home victory over the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference play. Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) made eight saves for Franklin Pierce in defeat.

Bentley opened the scoring with the only goal it would need with just 1:58 remaining in the first half. Tormollan made the save on the initial attack by the Falcons, but DeMusis was waiting for the rebound and stuffed it home for her second goal of the season.

Bentley dominated play in the opening 35 minutes to the tune of an 8-2 shots advantage.

The Falcons would double the lead to 2-0 with 9:58 to play in regulation. Once again, Tormollan made one save, but junior midfielder Courtney Bartlett (Brunswick, Maine/St. Mark’s School) collected the rebound and found the back of the cage to score her second goal of the season.

Bentley held a 4-2 edge in shots in the second half, which gave the Falcons a dominant, 12-4 advantage for the game.

Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Sliney (Brewster, Mass./Nauset Regional) needed to make only three saves to earn the shutout in front of the Bentley goal. Tormollan made eight saves for Franklin Pierce but suffered the loss.
