RINDGE, N.H. (November 1, 2007) - Franklin Pierce University senior Elizabeth Ellis (Turner, Maine/Leavitt) and graduate student Mary Beth Huszar (Greenville, N.H./Mascenic Regional) were both named to the 2007 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Div. II Senior All-Star team, the association announced on Tuesday.

Both players will participate in the 2007 NFHCA Div. II Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, Nov. 17, to be held at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. The event coincides with the NCAA Div. I Field Hockey Final Four, which will take place in College Park on Nov. 16 and 18. The last Franklin Pierce player to earn a spot in the game was Laura Blanchard '06, who participated in the All-Star event in 2005.

Ellis, who served as team captain for the second consecutive year in 2007, started 18 of the Ravens' 19 matches in her senior season, recording one assist. The midfielder took the field in 72 matches in her four-year career, setting a new school record for matches played.

In four seasons, Ellis recorded one goal and four assists for six points, including a junior season in which she recorded her first collegiate goal against Bryant and added three assists for a career-high five points. The senior is also a three-time member of the NFHCA Division II All-Academic Team and a 2006 Northeast-10 All-Academic first-team honoree.

Huszar also earned four letters at Franklin Pierce, and finished her career near or at the top of many of the school's all-time record lists.  She appeared in 67 career matches, which ranks third all-time at the school, and scored 23 goals and added eight assists for 54 points. Both her career goal and point totals leave her second all-time at Franklin Pierce, behind only Debbie Jones '03, while she finishes sixth all-time in assists as well.

In 2007, the forward scored 11 goals and had six assists for 28 points appearing in all of the team's 19 games, setting new school single-season records for assists and points and tying the single-season mark in goals.

The Franklin Pierce field hockey team, led by second-year head coach Meighan Guiney, finished the 2007 season with a 1-18 record, including a 1-14 mark in the competitive Northeast-10 Conference. The Ravens lost 10 games by one goal and five in overtime, while eight of the Ravens' matches also came against teams ranked in the top 10 of the final STX/NFHCA Div. II National Coaches Poll of 2007.
