Saint Anselm Rallies Past Franklin Pierce, 2-1
Huszar and Clifford combine for Ravens lone goal in loss

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 21, 2006)
– The Franklin Pierce field hockey team suffered a tough, 2-1
loss to Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action this
afternoon at the Saint Anselm South Athletic Field. Saint Anselm
sophomore Laura Urko (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) registered three
points on a goal and assist to lead the Hawks to its their first
victory of the season.
Franklin Pierce came out firing in the first half as senior Mary Beth Huszar (Greenville,
N.H./Greenville) netted her second goal of the season off a
dish from sophomore Jenee Clifford
(Sandown, N.H./Timberlane) to give the Ravens an early 1-0
lead.
Saint Anselm responded early in the second half as Urko collected
her first goal of the season off a pass from senior Johanna Burrill
(Medon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) to knot the score at 1-1. The Hawks
broke the tie with 13:35 remaining in game when senior Ashley
Mazzoli (Somers, Conn./Somers) deposited her first goal of the
season off a dish from Urko.
Franklin Pierce goalkeeper, senior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) made three saves in
the loss, while Saint Anselm freshman goalkeeper Riley Haddock
(Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) stopped two shots to earn her first
collegiate win.
Franklin Pierce (2-3, 2-3 NE-10) will be in action again on
Saturday as it hosts Southern Connecticut State University at 1
p.m. Saint Anselm (1-4, 1-4 NE-10) will travel to Merrimack College
on Saturday at 1 p.m.
