Armand earns first shutout of the season for the Yellow Jackets

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (October 18 , 2005) – The Franklin Pierce field hockey dropped a tough match,1-0 to American International College in Northeast-10 conference action this afternoon at Yellow Jackets Field.

American International junior Elissa Goldsmith (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Regional) scored the lone goal of the match to give the Yellow Jackets its first win of the season. The goal was scored with 18:25 remaining in the match off a feed from sophomore Jamie Anderson (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro).

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) stopped seven shots in the Ravens loss. American International sophomore goalkeeper Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass./Dancers) also stopped seven shots to record her first shutout of the season.

Franklin Pierce (6-11, 4-10 NE-10) will be in action again on Thursday as it travels to Bryant University for a match starting at 4 p.m. American International College (1-14, 1-13 NE-10) will host No. 5 Stonehill College on Thursday for a match starting at 4 p.m.
