Franklin Pierce Stuns Assumption, 3-1
Ravens register first win against Assumption
Mary Beth Huszar scored a pair of goals on Wednesday against
Assumption.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 12 , 2005)
– The Franklin Pierce field hockey team scored three second
half goals to defeat Assumption College, 3-1in Northeast-10 field
hockey action at Sodexho Field this evening. This marks the first
time Franklin Pierce has defeated Assumption College in 10 games
played.
Assumption College started the scoring in the first half, as
senior captain Kerry Kelly (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) fired a shot past
Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Amanda
Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) with 12:51
remaining.
Franklin Pierce responded with three unanswered goals in the
second half to secure the victory. Freshman Jenee Clifford (Sandown,
N.H./Timberlane) started the scoring for the Ravens,
registering her second collegiate goal with 33:34 remaining in the
second half.

Huszar (Greenville, N.H./Greenville) would put the Ravens on
top for good, when she scored her first goal of the match off a
feed from senior captain Amy
McMullin (Belgrade, Maine./Messalonske) with 29:09 remaining
in the second half. Huszar would later add her second goal of the
match, her eighth of the season, with 10:27 remaining to put
Franklin Pierce on top 3-1.
Assumption College junior goalkeeper Kaitlin Burke (Falmouth,
Mass./Falmouth) registered seven saves for the Greyhounds.
Pietraszuk also stopped seven shots in net for Franklin Pierce.
Franklin Pierce (5-9, 3-8 NE-10) will be in action on Saturday,
when it travels to No. 7 Stonehill College for a match starting at
10 a.m. Assumption College (7-7, 6-7 NE-10) will travel to
Mercyhurst College on Saturday for a match starting at 11 a.m.
