RINDGE, N.H. (October 4 , 2005) – Franklin Pierce suffered a tough 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference loss to Saint Michael’s College, ranked No. 8 in this week’s STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Poll, at Sodexho Field this evening.

Saint Michael’s College scored two unanswered goals during the second half of the match to win its fourth game in its last five matches. The Purple Knights opened the scoring with 33:48 remaining in the second half, when junior Lindsay Harrison (Brandon, Vt./Otter Valley Union) scored her fourth goal of the season off a feed from junior Lindsay Bracaleone (Gloucester, Mass./Manchester Essex Reg.).

Freshman Andrea Slaven (Danvers, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) added to the Saint Michael’s lead, scoring a goal with 10:17 remaining in the match.

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn. / The Morgan School) stopped three shots for Franklin Pierce. The Saint Michael’s defense and junior goalkeeper Tina Nardi (Rupert, Vt./Salem Central (N.Y.) limited the Ravens to just one shot all match, leading Nardi to her fourth shutout of the season.

Franklin Pierce (4-8, 2-8 NE-10) will be in action on Thursday, when it hosts No. 5 ranked UMass Lowell for a match starting at 6 p.m. Saint Michael’s College (8-5, 8-3 NE-10) will be in action again on Saturday when it hosts Assumption College at 3 p.m.
