Guertin Records Fifth Shutout of the Season
RINDGE, N.H. (October 18, 2003) –
The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team shut out American
International College, 1-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action this
afternoon.
Sophomore Laura Blanchard
(Rockport, Mass./Rockport) broke the scoreless tie with
three minutes remaining in the first on a pass from Senior captain
Debbie Jones (Escondido,
Calif./Bishops) to give the Ravens a 1-0 advantage.
Sophomore goalkeeper, Brandi
Guertin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) made nine saves in
the victory and recorded her fifth shutout of the season. AIC
goalkeeper Megan Trystman (South Africa/Maris Stella) made 11 saves
and took the loss.
Franklin Pierce (9-7, 8-6 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday
when it travels to Southern Connecticut for a Conference matchup at
7 p.m. American International College (0-18, 0-14 NE-10) next hosts
Bryant on Wednesday for a League match at 4:00 p.m.
