Franklin Pierce Holds Off Saint Anselm, 1-0
Goal from Blanchard gives Ravens first win of the season
MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 11, 2003) -
The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team recorded its first
win of the season with a 1-0 shutout over Saint Anselm College in
Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action this afternoon.
With 5:21 left in regulation, sophomore Laura Blanchard (Rockport,
Mass./Rockport) notched her first goal of the season, giving
the Ravens the 1-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brandi
Guertin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) recorded her first
shutout as a Raven, making eight saves in net and earning the win.
Saint Anselm goalkeeper, Lisa Bellantoni (Hanover, Mass./Hanover)
made 13 saves for the Hawks.
Franklin Pierce (1-3, 1-3 NE-10) travels to American International
College for a Conference matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m. Saint Anselm
(2-2, 1-2 NE-10) next faces the Southern Connecticut State Owls on
Saturday in New Haven, Conn. at 1 p.m.
