Franklin Pierce Falls to Saint Michael's, 4-1
RINDGE, N.H. (October 25, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University field hockey team fell to Saint
Michael's College, 4-1, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey
action at the Franklin Pierce Field hockey/Lacrosse field.
Junior Kari Surace netted two markers and dished one assist to
lead the Purple Knights, while Michelle Patts and Jilby Danis each
scored a goal in the win. Sophomore
Sarah Lavway (Unity, Maine/Mount
View) helped the Ravens take the early lead, scoring off of
a pass from senior Chrystean Page
(Turner, Maine/Leavitt) at the 24:09 mark of the opening
period.
Saint Michael's would score the equalizer just one minute later as
Surace recorded an unassisted tally to make the score 1-1.
The teams were deadlocked at one goal apiece when Danis registered
the go-ahead goal at the 28:42 mark of the second period.
The Purple Knights put away the Ravens for good as Patts and
Surace each tacked on goals to make the final, Saint Michael's 4,
Franklin Pierce 1.
Franklin Pierce senior Kasey
McClements (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) made 12 stops in net for
the Ravens, while sophomore Jess Anderson made four saves in the
win.
Franklin Pierce returns to action tomorrow, when it travels to
Bentley College for its final Northeast-10 Conference game of the
season. Saint Michael's (12-5, 9-1 NE-10) will begin its run in the
Northeast-10 Conference tournament starting on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
