Football Boasts Five Selections to CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. (11/28/22) – A list of five members from the Franklin Pierce football team were named as recipients of College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, with all being named to All-District I First Team. Per the official announcement last week, senior Eric Pilcher (Berwick, Maine), junior Luke Winslow (Lansing, N.Y.) and sophomores C.J Cerrella (Milford, Mass.), Camden Jordan (Turner, Maine) and Sam Kamara III (Old Bridge, N.J.) each met the criteria for selection.

To be eligible for All-District selection, the student-athlete must own a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher, be at least a sophomore in academic standing as well as a starter or significant contributor athletically. The Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on by sports information directors in the district and nation, respectively. The five selectees are automatically qualified for consideration on the Academic All-America ballot.

For all five recipients, it is the first time in their collegiate careers receiving the honor.

As the only listed senior, defensive lineman Eric Pilcher holds a 3.81 cumulative GPA in the classroom as a marketing major. On the field he has appeared in eight games this season for the Ravens, producing six solo tackles with 10 assisted tackles.

Junior defensive back Luke Winslow has appeared in all 10 contests this season for Pierce, recording 18 solo tackles with 17 assisted. Additionally, as the lone representative from his respective class, Winslow holds a cumulative GPA of 3.60 off the field.

C.J Cerrella leads the sophomore grouping with a 3.82 cumulative GPA in the classroom, and hit the field for 9 total games this past season as a member of the Raven middle defensive corps. During that span, Cerrella hit new career-highs with 9 total solo tackles, as well as 11 assisted take-downs. Joining him on the podium is additional sophomore linebacker Camden Jordan, who had totaled 16 tackles this season with six solo and 10 assisted on the field, while shining in the classroom with a 3.51 GPA as a sports & recreation management major. Sam Kamara III rounds out the list of sophomore recipients, holding a 3.52 GPA to go along with 29 total tackles as a defensive back through all 10 games this season.

The official selections for the Academic All-America ballot will be unveiled on Tuesday, December 20th.
