FPYS 2020 -- Archived Video

The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics held the second annual FPYS on Thursday night. A virtual event this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the yearly awards show celebrated the accomplishments of each of the institution's 24 varsity athletic programs. The event was hosted remotely by a pair of senior student-athletes: Ella Brownson of the women's lacrosse team and Matthew Toombs of the men's ice hockey and men's tennis teams. Following opening remarks from the President of the University, Dr. Kim Mooney '83, and the Director of Athletics, Rachel Burleson, each of the Department's coaches presented their own team-level awards.

Team award recipients were as follows:

  • Baseball -- Tyler Patane (Team MVP), Joel Lara (Coaches Award)
  • Men's basketball -- Doyin Fadojutimi (Team MVP), Falu Seck (Team MVP)
  • Women's basketball -- Izzy Lipinski (Most Outstanding Player), Demi Akins (Raven Warrior), Hannah Everidge (Raven Warrior)
  • Men's cross country -- Hugo Arlabosse (Team MVP), Riley Fenoff (Coaches Award)
  • Women's cross country -- Marissa Farago (Team MVP), Julia Cormier (Coaches Award)
  • Field hockey -- Olivia Barnes (Anchor Award), Julianne Sacco (Anchor Award), Nicole McDowell (Anchor Award)
  • Football -- Drew Campanale (Offensive MVP), Ishmael Johnson (Defensive MVP)
  • Men's golf -- Sam Myers (Team MVP), Nate Patterson (Team MVP), Dylan Plis (Coaches Award), Michael Sosik (Coaches Award)
  • Women's golf -- Zoey Yamamoto (Team MVP), Jinnapat Rittawee (Team MVP), Taylor Hartley (Coaches Award), Sydney Caron (Coaches Award), Alia Godek (Coaches Award)
  • Men's ice hockey -- Alex Lester (Team MVP), Conor Foley (Rookie of the Year), Chris Stevenson (7th Player Award)
  • Women's ice hockey -- Emme Ostrander (Team MVP), Bridgette Prentiss (Team MVP)
  • Men's lacrosse -- Alex Caskie (Leadership Award), Kyle Fortier (Leadership Award), Chris Breault (Leadership Award)
  • Women's lacrosse -- Danielle Brazeau (Most Improved), Caroline Lounsbury (Attacker MVP), Sarah Waldrep (Defender MVP), Zoe Totland (Midfielder MVP), Lauren Hazelwood (Shining Sister)
  • Rowing -- With the rowing team not seeing any competition in 2019-20, head coach Sarah Caruthers used her time to recognize her team as a whole for their hard work and growth shown throughout the year.
  • Softball -- Lindsay Finney (Coaches Award), Ashley Turcotte (Coaches Award), Amelia Mamone (Raven Softball Award)
  • Men's soccer -- Carlos Ferrando Felis (Team MVP)
  • Women's soccer -- Kiley Vermette (Team MVP), Sophie Cousineau (The Chain Award)
  • Men's tennis -- Yuval Barak (Team MVP), Nkrumah Patrick (Coaches Award)
  • Women's tennis -- Liria Loria (Team MVP), Laura Alvarez Tello (Coaches Award)
  • Men's track & field -- Hugo Arlabosse (Teamp MVP), Aaron Young (Coaches Award)
  • Women's track & field -- Paola Brena (Team MVP), Sara Joyce (Caoches Award)
  • Volleyball -- Ellie Ivanova (Team MVP), Corrine McCarthy (Coaches Award)

Also recognized on Thursday night were the Department's new inductees into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. In order to be inducted, a student-athlete must be at least a junior in academic standing and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.4 or higher. This year's inductees were as follows:
