Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selections

MANSFIELD, Mass. (February 4, 2020) – Franklin Pierce University has had six student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Monday by the Conference office. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) and sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) of the men’s cross country team, senior midfielder Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) and junior forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) of the men’s soccer team, senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) of the field hockey team, and senior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil), were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 89 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must fulfill each of the following criteria: (1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions as a starter or significant contributor, (2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and (3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The teams are chosen by the vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives. In addition, one honoree in each sport is selected as the NE10’s Sport Excellence award winner in that sport.

It is the second straight Academic All-Conference selection for Laudahn, Felber and Marques. Arlabosse, Fenoff and Strassburg all earned the accolade for the first time in their respective careers.

Arlabosse is a communications major who sports a 3.78 GPA. He earned All-East Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in addition to All-NE10 First Team honors for his performances in the fall. Arlabosse placed fourth at the NE10 Championship, with an 8k time of 27:25, and followed up with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA East Regional, with a 10k time of 32:17.

Fenoff carries a perfect, 4.0 GPA as a psychology major. He also earned All-East Region accolades from the USTFCCCA and landed on the All-NE10 Second Team. In addition, Fenoff was selected as the NE10’s Elite 24 Award recipient, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at each of the league’s 24 championships. He finished 13th at the NE10 Championship, with a time of 27:45, and added an 18th-place finish at the NCAA East Regional, with a time of 32:26.

Laudahn is majoring in management and currently owns a 3.97 GPA. On the awards front, he earned All-East Region Second Team honors from both United Soccer Coaches and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), in addition to earning a spot on the All-NE10 First Team. Academically, Laudahn has already been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Third Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, as well as landing on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region First Team. In 18 games for the Ravens this fall, he tallied seven points on one goal and five assists.

Felber wrapped up the fall semester with a 3.94 GPA as a management major. Though not as decorated for his athletic accomplishments as Laudahn this season, Felber cleaned up on the academic front, as CoSIDA named him to both the Academic All-America and Academic All-District First Teams. In 19 games this fall, he collected 19 points on eight goals and three assists.

Strassburg has posted a 3.6 GPA as a double-major in both education and English. She earned All-NE10 Third Team honors in the fall, while establishing new program records for defensive saves in a season (11) and in a career (18). Strassburg started all 19 games on the back line for the Ravens, and her 11 defensive saves were good enough to lead the country.

Finally, Marques is a sports and recreation management major with a 3.83 GPA. For her work on the field this fall, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team, as well as the All-NE10 First Team. In 15 games, Marques tallied 17 points on six goals and five assists.
