Men's & Women's Basketball Teams to Host 4th Annual Rocky the Raven Kid's Day this Saturday

Several fun games and prizes to highlight the day

RINDGE, N.H. (January 22, 2013) -- The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics, along with its men's and women's basketball teams, will host the Fourth Annual Rocky the Raven Kid's Day this Saturday at The Fieldhouse in Rindge. The event will be held in conjunction with the men's and women's basketball doubleheader versus Pace, which begins at 1:30 p.m. with the women's contest, followed by the men's contest at 3:30 p.m.

Several fun events are planned for the day, including the Basketball Bingo Game, free Rocky the Raven tattoos, autographs and team photos with both teams, and halftime games. Lots of fun prizes will be given away.

Admission is FREE for all children eighth grade and younger, who are accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets are $6 and are good for both games.

Everyone in attendance will get to see two of the top Division II programs in the Northeast. The women's basketball team is currently riding a six-game winning streak and is tied for third in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Ravens (11-4 overall, 8-3 NE-10) are battling for a spot in the 2013 NCAA Division II Tournament East Regional, which would be the program's sixth-consecutive appearance in the national tournament. Franklin Pierce and Pace are no strangers on the hardwood as both schools have met in the NCAA first round in each of the past two years with the Ravens and Setters each picking up a post-season win over the other.

The men's basketball team (11-4, 8-3 NE-10), which is looking to defend its NE-10 regular season championship in 2013, has been ranked in the national polls this entire season. Franklin Pierce is looking to reach the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year after advancing to the second round in 2012.
