Melinda Neale will enter her second year as the Academic Athletic Coordinator at Franklin Pierce University in 2018-19. Working out of the Center for Academic Excellence, she serves as a liaison between the CAE and the Department of Athletics, helping to track and manage the academic progress of the the institution's student-athletes.
Neale joined Franklin Pierce after spending the 2017-18 academic year as an intern within the Student-Athlete Academic Services office at the University of Utah, where she served as an academic mentor and provided academic skill instruction to the institution's Division I athletes. Prior to her time in Salt Lake City, she completed a 2015-16 internship with the compliance office at fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Merrimack. While at Merrimack, Neale also served as an assistant coach with the rowing program.
A student-athlete in her own right, Neale was a member of the rowing team at the University of Massachusetts Lowell from 2009 to 2013, during her days as an undergraduate. She was an All-Conference selection while helping her team to a conference title as a senior. During her time as an undergrad, Neale also spent time working with US Rowing and the governing body's Junior National Development Team Camp.
A 2013 graduate of UMass Lowell, Neale earned her bachelor's degree in psychology. She followed up with a master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern University in 2015.
