RINDGE, N.H. (September 1, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics, in conjunction with B.R.O. and the Sports and Recreation Club, will host Pierce Pride Kickoff 2009, its first Pierce Pride event of the 2009-10 year, on Friday, Sept. 4 at Sodexo Field as part of the men’s and women’s soccer games that evening. The night will be capped with a fireworks display, courtesy of Atlas Pyrotechnics.

Both Franklin Pierce’s men’s and women’s soccer teams will host games on Friday evening. At 4 p.m., the No. 11 nationally ranked women’s team holds its home opener against Florida Southern. At 7 p.m., the No. 16 men’s team hosts Bridgeport as part of the Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic, which will also feature a game between Molloy and Bentley at 1 p.m.

Prizes, giveaways, promotions and more will take place throughout the day. Various Franklin Pierce administration, staff and faculty members are scheduled to appear in a dunk tank throughout the evening. The fireworks display will commence following the conclusion of the Franklin Pierce men’s soccer game.

Entering its second year, the "Pierce Pride" program is an effort by the Department of Athletics to foster campus- and community-wide support for both Athletics and Franklin Pierce University as a whole. The program seeks to help connect the campus and the community with the university's 17 intercollegiate athletics programs and, in turn, allow the athletics programs to give back to the community.
