Tia Levins Tia Levins has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 5, 2010) – Sophomore forward Tia Levins (Manchester, Maine) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team and junior libero Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township, Mich.) of the volleyball team have each been named to their respective Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Teamsfor the fall semester, as announced Friday by the conference office. The pair of Ravens joins four men’s and women’s soccer players honored yesterday to give Franklin Pierce four Academic All-Conference selections in the semester.

To be eligible for selection to an Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes were required to meet three requirements. Student-athletes must have participated in at least half of their team’s competitions as a starter or significant contributor, achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) and completed at least one academic year at their current institution.

Levins currently owns a 3.78 grade-point average through three semesters as a management major. In the fall, she played in 17 games for the Franklin Pierce field hockey squad, including six starts. Levins led the team with four game-winning goals and also ranked second on the team in goals (five), third in points (11) and shots on goal (22) and tied for third in shots attempted (37). On Sept. 16 at Saint Anselm, she made the most of her first career start, as she scored the first two goals of her career, one of which was the game-winner, in a 3-1 win for Franklin Pierce. Levins was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the weeks ending on Sept. 20 and Sept. 27.

Chelsie Kohout Chelsie Kohout has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

Kohout has posted a 3.76 grade-point average through five semesters as a biology major. She played in all 30 matches as the primary libero for the Ravens this fall. She finished 10th in the Northeast-10 and led Franklin Pierce with 3.74 digs per set and also placed second in the team with 0.26 service aces per set. Kohout tallied 420 digs to go with 37 aces, 28 aces and three kills over the 30 matches. Her season-best performance came against Le Moyne on Nov. 1, when she recorded 32 digs and was subsequently named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Nov. 1. At the end of her junior season, Kohout ranks second in program history with 1,420 career digs.
