Women’s Tennis Falls at Saint Michael’s, 9-0, to Conclude Season

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 14, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play at Saint Michael’s on Sunday.
Rodgers Leads Way Again, Women's Tennis Notches 6-3 Win Over AIC

MILFORD, N.H. (April 10, 2013) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team fought back after losses at both first singles and second singles on Wednesday evening to post a 6-3 win over American International in non-conference, neutral-site play at Hampshire Hills Sports and Fitness Club. Sophomore Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.), senior Melissa Cohen (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore Christine Boulanger (East Hampton, Conn.) all won twice each for Franklin Pierce.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 9, 2013) -- Sophomore Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory at fourth singles on Tuesday afternoon, a victory which tied the match at 3-3 at the time. However, the Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team dropped the remaining three matches still in play and suffered a 6-3 loss at home against Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference play.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 8, 2013) -- Sophomore Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) rolled to a win at fourth singles on Monday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, by Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce.

(April 6, 2013) -- Junior Natasha McCarthy (Rindge, N.H.) posted dominant wins in both first singles and first doubles on Saturday morning, but the Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce. Junior Kristine Kenny led Le Moyne with a straight-set win at second singles after earning a victory at third doubles.

(April 5, 2013) -- Sophomore Emily Parrett (Amherst, N.H.) dropped just two games while posting lopsided wins in both first doubles and third singles on Friday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win over Regis (Mass.) in non-conference play at Franklin Pierce. Junior Natasha McCarthy (Rindge, N.H.) held down the top flights for the Ravens, as she won in both first doubles and first singles play.

(April 4, 2013) -- Freshman Kirby Melbourne (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and sophomore Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) teamed for an 8-4 win at second doubles on Thursday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, by Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce. Junior Erica Micciche won at both first doubles and first singles in the victory for Assumption.

(March 29, 2013) – Freshman Kirby Melbourne (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and sophomore Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) teamed for an 8-4 win at second doubles on Friday, before picking up straight-set wins at second and fourth singles, respectively, to lead the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team to a 7-2 win over Saint Rose in neutral-site, Northeast-10 Conference play at Hampshire Hills Sports and Fitness Club. Senior Jen Crego won at first singles and first doubles to factor in on both points for Saint Rose in defeat.

(October 11, 2012) – Sophomore Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win at fifth singles on Thursday afternoon to finish off a 5-4 home win for the Franklin Pierce University tennis team over Plymouth State in non-conference play. Earlier in the day, Rodgers had teamed with sophomore Christine Boulanger (East Hampton, Conn.) to pick up a 9-7 win at third doubles.

(September 26, 2012) -- Freshman forward Hannah Weagle (Ipswich, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to spark the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team to a 2-0 triumph at Bentley on Wednesday in Waltham, Mass. The win snapped a four-match winless streak for the Ravens as they improved to 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Northeast-10. Bentley fell to 3-3-2 and 1-3-2 in league play.

Marty Morrissey Tabbed as Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach

RINDGE, N.H. (August 28, 2012) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh announced on Tuesday that Marty Morrissey has been named the new Head Coach of both the men’s and women’s tennis programs, effective immediately. Morrissey brings four years of collegiate head coaching experience, all in the Division III New England Collegiate Conference, with him to the Ravens.
