Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Saint Anselm in NEWHA Title Game, 3-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 24, 2019) – A shorthanded and banged up team without its top-line center had a go of it on Sunday afternoon, but the third-seeded Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team could not find enough to get past top seed and host Saint Anselm in the title game of the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Tournament at Sullivan Arena. Second-period goals from junior forward Amanda Conger and freshman forward Erin Meyers held up, as Saint Anselm posted a 3-0 victory on home ice to claim the league crown.

Women’s Ice Hockey Uses Strong Second to Push Past Sacred Heart, 3-2, in NEWHA Semifinal

MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 23, 2019) – A highlight-reel goal by sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) wound up standing as the difference on Saturday night, as the third-seeded Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team upended second-seeded Sacred Heart in the semifinal round of the NEWHA Tournament, hosted by Saint Anselm at Sullivan Arena. Junior defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) and freshman forward Kiki Doucette (Bridgewater, Mass.) added goals as well, while freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) made 28 saves, none more key than the last few, as the Ravens held on for a 3-2 victory.

PREVIEW: Women’s Ice Hockey to Meet Sacred Heart in NEWHA Tournament Semifinal

RINDGE, N.H. (February 22, 2019) – Hunting the second 20-win season in program history, the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team will open postseason play on Saturday night. The third-seeded Ravens will meet second-seeded Sacred Heart in the semifinal round of the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Tournament, which is being hosted by Saint Anselm, at Sullivan Arena in Manchester, N.H. Opening faceoff for the day’s second semifinal is set for 7 p.m.

(February 21, 2019) – All-New England Women’s Hockey Alliance First Team accolades for junior defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.) headline four All-NEWHA selections and six total honorees for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team, as announced on Wednesday. In addition, sophomore forwards Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) and Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) landed on the All-NEWHA Second Team. Freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team, while junior defenseman Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was named to the All-Sportswomanship Team.

(February 16, 2019) – Sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) scored twice, and added an assist for a three-point afternoon on Saturday, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team notched a 5-1 win over visiting Post in the regular-season finale at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Postgame, the Ravens honored junior Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.), who is graduating in just three years and celebrated her “Senior Day” following the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance contest.

(February 15, 2019) – Sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) and junior defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) each tallied hat tricks on Friday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team rolled to a 13-0 win over Post in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Sophomore forward Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.) added five points on two goals and three assists in the penultimate game of the regular season.

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (February 9, 2019) – The goals did not come easy on Saturday afternoon for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team, but in the end there were more than enough of them to pick up a 3-0 win on the road at Anna Maria. The Ravens rang up an advantage of 66-7 in shots on goal in a dominant performance against the first-year AMCATS. Sophomore forwards Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.), Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) and Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.) had the goals for Franklin Pierce in the non-conference victory at New England Sports Center.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 8, 2019) – The defense of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team was hardly challenged on Friday afternoon, as the Ravens held visiting Nichols to just nine shots on goal in a non-conference contest at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Franklin Pierce collected 39 shots of its own and got goals from five different players on the way to a 5-0 win on home ice.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 2, 2019) – One day after a scoreless tie, the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team and Sacred Heart played an eight-goal affair on Saturday evening at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Freshman forward Anna Klein notched two goals and an assist to lead Sacred Heart, which posted a 5-3 victory in the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance contest. Junior forward Jayne Lewis had a goal and an assist, including her 100th career point, for the Pioneers.

(January 26, 2019) – Junior forward Kelsey Holmes (Warwick, R.I.) scored her first two goals of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team finished off a dominant weekend sweep with a 3-0 win at Saint Michael’s. Freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) made 16 saves to post her second straight shutout, as the Ravens did not surrender a goal in the two-game, New England Women’s Hockey Alliance series at Cairns Arena.

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (January 19, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team piled up a shots advantage of 48-21 on the road on Saturday night. Ultimately, three different players found the net, as the Ravens picked up a 3-1 win over Salve Regina in non-conference play at St. George’s School Ice Rink. Sophomore defenseman Carolyn Drowne (Bridgewater, Mass.), junior forward Meg Gilbride (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) all notched a pair of assists each for Franklin Pierce in the victory.
