All-NEWHA selections (PDF)

RINDGE, N.H. (February 21, 2019) – All-New England Women’s Hockey Alliance First Team accolades for junior defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.) headline four All-NEWHA selections and six total honorees for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team, as announced on Wednesday. In addition, sophomore forwards Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) and Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) landed on the All-NEWHA Second Team. Freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team, while junior defenseman Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was named to the All-Sportswomanship Team.

Prentiss is the NEWHA’s leading scorer among defenseman on the season, as she has tallied 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists over 29 games. She is also tied for the league lead in power-play goals (6) and tied for third in power-play points (9). Overall, Prentiss is tied for 14^th in the league in scoring and tied for eighth in goals. She has two game-winning goals and is +20 on the season with 85 shots on goal. In 16 NEWHA games, Prentiss totaled 15 points on seven goals and eight assists.

For her part, Parker is currently the NEWHA’s leading scorer, with 40 points on 17 goals and 23 assists. Both her point and assist totals have set new Franklin Pierce single-season records. Parker is also the NEWHA leader in assists and power-play points (10), while she ranks third in goals and tied for fourth in power-play goals (4). She has added two shorthanded and two game-winning goals along the way, and is +25 with 134 shots on goal. In league play, Parker tallied 22 points – which ranked second behind the NEWHA Player of the Year, Katy Meehan of Saint Anselm – on 10 goals and 22 assists.

Amato is the NEWHA’s leading goal scorer, as she has put 21 pucks in the net on the season, to establish a new Franklin Pierce single-season record. She is also third in the NEWHA in scoring, with 35 points on those 21 goals and 14 assists, the latter of which is tied for ninth in the league. Amato is tied for sixth in the NEWHA in power-play scoring (5-3-8) and third in power-play goals. She was the only NEWHA player to tally three shorthanded goals or five game-winning goals on the season. Amato is +14 on the year, with 102 shots on goal. In league play, she collected 18 points on a league-best 13 goals and five assists. With at least one game remaining in her sophomore season, Amato has already racked up 73 points, which puts her more than halfway to the school record of 123.

Massaro is currently fourth in the NEWHA in scoring, with 34 points on 13 goals and 21 assists, as the Ravens boast three of the league’s top four scorers. The 21 assists is good enough to rank second, while the 13 goals ties for sixth in the league. Massaro also has 10 power-play points, to tie Parker for the NEWHA lead. She has two power-play goals, one shorthanded tally and three game-winning goals, and is +21 with 106 shots on goal. In NEWHA play, Massaro has notched 20 points on six goals and 14 assists.

Ostrander wound up logging nearly two-thirds of Franklin Pierce’s minutes in net this year and established a new single-season program record for shutouts, with eight. She led the league in both goals-against average (1.36) and save percentage (.939), though that was not enough to get her on to either All-NEWHA team, for some reason. Focusing solely on league play, Ostrander still led the NEWHA in save percentage (.938) and ranked second in goals-against average (1.50). Both overall and in league play only, her save percentage and goals-against average ranked above both goaltenders who did earn All-NEWHA honors. Ostrander also logged the second-most minutes of any goaltender in the league.

The captain of the Ravens, Neuburger was honored for her sportsmanship, after she collected just eight penalty minutes on four infractions on the season. She is currently sixth on the team in scoring, with 16 points on two goals and 14 assists, and is also +11 with 51 shots on goal. In NEWHA play, Neuburger tallied seven points, on seven assists.

The Ravens return to the ice on Saturday, Feb. 23, when they travel to Saint Anselm for the semifinal round of the NEWHA Tournament. The third-seeded Ravens will faceoff with second-seeded Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Arena in Manchester, N.H.
