Women’s Ice Hockey’s Amato, Doucette Pick up NEWHA Weekly Awards

RINDGE, N.H. (February 19, 2019) – Sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team has been named New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Player of the Week, for the week ending on Feb. 17, as announced on Tuesday. In addition, freshman forward Kiki Doucette (Bridgewater, Mass.) was selected as NEWHA Rookie of the Week.

Amato tallied seven points, on five goals and two assists, as the Ravens swept Post at home to wrap up the regular season over the weekend. She recorded 12 shots and finished +8 on the week. Amato tallied a natural hat trick and added an assist to notch four points in a 13-0 win on Friday afternoon. She added two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win on Saturday afternoon.

On the season, Amato has played in all 29 of the team’s games and ranks second on the team in scoring, with 35 points on 21 goals and 14 assists. She has tallied five power-play goals, three shorthanded goals and five game-winning goals, while recording 102 shots on goal. Amato is +14 on the season and has been whistled for eight penalties totaling 16 minutes.

For her part, Doucette notched three points on a goal and two assists on the weekend for the Ravens. She tallied seven shots and finished +7 over the two games. Doucette dished out a pair of assists in the 13-0 win on Friday afternoon. She then scored the game-winning goal in the 5-1 win on Saturday afternoon.

On the season, Doucette has also played in all 29 of the team’s games. She has recorded seven points, on two goals and five assists, with a pair of game-winning goals along the way. Doucette is +10, with 56 shots on goal, and has taken just one penalty for two minutes.

The Ravens return to the ice on Saturday, Feb. 23, when they travel to Saint Anselm for the semifinal round of the NEWHA Tournament. The third-seeded Ravens will take on second-seeded Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Rink in Manchester, N.H.
